Great job done, congrats & this site is surely helpful for us living in India. I have begun to recommend this to my friends.
Thanks.
Jyoti

That's good to hear. I'm trying to make this site just as useful to people living within India. The general word I hear is that people tend to know what trains run through their area but I still think this has some helpful info.

Also...

NEW FEATURE - Station descriptions are shown on route details. Not all stations have descriptions yet but you can view an example by searching Bangalore/Goa central.

NEW DATA: Added Goa - North, Goa - Central, Goa - South to the dropdown list.

ANOTHER NEW FEATURE: By popular request I've added a drop down list for selecting a preferred day of departure.

Its a great idea and well implemented.

One suggestion - you could add a max layover time as well.

And if you need help, I'd be glad to.

Thanks for the suggestion Infidel, are you a software developer?

I didn't add a max layover time because the whole point of the search is to find the quickest overall travel time possible. Layover time is only important for ensuring you will have enough time to catch your connecting train.

Bingo. I am a software developer, but for embedded systems.

I agree with you, but suppose at my break point, I don't want a layover of more than 6 hours, so if you add this criteria, the search results will be cut down. This max value will have importance in situations where you reach the breakpoint in the evening and don't want an overnight stay at that place, i.e you want  the connecting train to be before midnight. Your current solution works great, but with this option, which is a sort of fine tuning option the search results will become more specific.

I have another such fine tuning option. These suggestions are not necessities, but I believe small tools which will give the user exactly what he wants.

Usually people like to reach a certain destination at a particular time, say in the morning, or in the evening, similarly they have a preferred time of departure. So if you add menus for desired time of departure and arrival, the search result will pin point the train the person desires. But there is a disadvantage also, the menu which is currently simple becomes lengthy and might not remain appealing.

You could do a poll to know what others feel.

And I'd always be glad to help.

I have an idea, you can have an advanced search options tab as in google, where you can keep these extra features and this will still keep your main search page neat and clean.
