 I never ever thought I would even get to India once in this life time..Yet in a 18 month time span, went to India 3 times..First to Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Ranthambore, Varanasi, Karauli and Mandawa...Second time to Kerala..and then 3rd time to Goa...

Unreal..and now starting to plan a 4th trip for early next year...This time maybe to Puskar and Jaisalmer and perhaps back to Goa.. :(

Anyhow............. :(

I saw a lot of India while there, most of the highlights I suppose. But I was ALWAYS moving, so I would like to come and just BE somewhere for awhile and perhaps do a cooking course. I also did not see Dehli and Mountain areas, so that is my next plan of attack. Fly to Delhi... see those areas and then perhaps go on over to Myanmar, that is what is on my mind. Probably in 2007. I am almost at the point of putting all my stuff in storage and taking off for a long while (all the kids are now grown and I have a little income) has anyone done that here?
India is great, and it was my first choice of places to go. Certainly all the diversity reccomends it, not to mention the architecture, art, history, etc... fascinating!

Next august :) will be my fifth time. I was there for six month on 99 after having my degree in the university, later I found a job that I like but only allows me one month holiday ;) (and on august) and i've been doing short trips of one month… so there's lots of places that i've to discover. Next august going to Hampi and will travel north till Orchha visiting central India ;)

once, in feb 2005.
but I decided this week that I will go at the end of next year - something about the new site actually made me realise that I should DO SOMETHING in the real world .
I am trying to convince madam princess that she should come - she will be nearly 11 by then.
just is.

3 times, for a total of 1 month. (past 4 ~ 5 years)

If I count being born there as a visit: 4 times, for a total of 24 years.

About 7 yrs between 1970 & 1980.  first time 1month, with the last time 3 years, with numourous times in-between of months & years. All in the days when visas weren't required.
Then a 10year gap (long story). Since then it's 3-4weeks whenever we can,,,,,,,,,,,,

I stopped counting after trip 16.
First time was in 1995, only 3 weeks.
Now I'm goigng to India one or two times a year and if it's only one time, I try to stay 3 months.

Summer 99 was supposed to be my last trip to India but I met wonderful people in  Himachal and yes... some of them became my best friends, a family.

From time to time I buy guidebooks for other countries, friends have a funny smile and guess what, I'm back to India!

Have madam princess read "Kim."  I didn't read it till I was an adult and until AFTER I'd been to India for the first time, but I think if I'd read it as a kid, I would have become infatuated with the place much earlier in my life  :P  Of course, India isn't the same as it was in Kipling's day ... but close enough!  I posted something on the "other site" about reading Kim, and a member named Lugubert responded and said he'd read "Kim" as a boy and has read it every year since!  Sort of like Jeffrey Hopkins, who wrote "The Search for Kim" (or "In Search of Kim" - something like that) about his travels around "Kim country."  Age 11 is probably perfect for a trip to India.  Old enough to really get what's going on, but before the sullen teenage years, when all she'll probably want to do is hang around with her friends at the mall (or whatever is the Australian equivalent).
"Nearly all men can stand adversity, but if you want to test a man’s character, give him power." - Abraham Lincoln
