Title :: Dal Gosht
Author :: sugarnspice
Category :: Non Veg
Ingredients ::
  • 1 kg mutton/lamb-cut into pieces
  • 1 tsp ginger paste
  • 1 tsp garlic paste
  • 1 cup yogurt
  • 1/2 cup masoor daal-soaked in water for an hour
  • 1 cup ghee
  • 2 cups onions-sliced thin
  • 2 tsp garam masala
  • 1 tbsp chilli powder
  • 3 tbsp powdered coriander
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 2 tbsp chopped coriander leaves for garnish
Description ::
Meat dish with lentils

NOTE: marinate the meat with ginger-garlic paste and yogurt and leave for 2 hoursHeat the ghee and fry the onions till brown and crisp. Drain onions out of the hot ghee with a slotted spoon, and keep aside.

Add meat mixture in same pan and sauté over high heat, till meat is opaque.

Lower the heat, add garam masala, chilli powder, coriander powder and salt, and simmer, covered, till tender, stirring a few times to avoid scorching.

Drain daal and add to the meat. Stir-fry a few times, add 4-5 cups hot water. Bring to a boil, then simmer over low heat till daal is cooked through.

Grind the onions to a paste with the help of a little water, and add to the meat. Cook some more till well blended, and serve garnished with the coriander leaves.
