two female friends are spending next weekend in Delhi, first time all by themselves, and I would like for them to stay somewhere safe and clean and convenient (CP)... budget around US60 for a double
I appreciate if you post here the hotels that you have personally stayed in, or had friends stayed in, or at least been inside. the hotel lists I can google from the net.
cheers!

We stayed at the Master Paying Guesthouse which is about a 40-50r rickshaw to CP. They provide airport pickup, are located in a quiet suburb, and are very helpful. It is a husband and wife team that run the place and it is getting to be really popular. We stayed there on our arrival in Delhi and booked a room for when we departed. It is a great place for people who have freshly arrived in India for the first time.

thanks! Master Guest House comes up every now and then, but what if it is fully booked (as I expect it to be?)

We booked well ahead of time at the Master Paying Guesthouse before we went and about 6 weeks ahead for our rooms on the way out of Delhi. The other place I stayed at is The Hari Krishna for 400r. and probably not any different from all the other cheap ones by the train station. I heard good things about La Sagrita, which is also in a Delhi suburb.

HI
We stayed at the janpath Guest house near wimpys its on the second and third floor of a building there we paid Rs 500 for a double with bath, one small window and no AC . they also had other more expensive rooms, where there were some foreigners staying. In terms of security I think it was adeqeut. The food though was not the best so dont eat here. this was in march 2006
We also stayed at the asian guest house in may 2006 for Rs. 800 for a AC room with bath . It is in the building next to Janpath guesthouse.
Since at both times I was travelling with company I did not notice any particular problems.
hope this is of help

Maybe Nirula's? I had a room there two years ago and I think it was in the price range they're looking for.
