The nip in the evening air made me think of going some where & doing things. Sat till 6:30 PM in the office thinking of a place to hit. Called a know-all friend & then off to Nizamuddin Dargah. Parking is a problem here so parked at the railway station & took a rickshaw. The whole place was brilliantly lit and the air was fragrant with crimson rose petals everywhere. Father & son duo Uvaid and Akram Sabri mesmerised the audience with heart rendering Quali & Sufi music. The function was organised by the Times of India group. In between regulars like the Niyaji brothers performed.
It was quite late and in a trance I turned up at Aap ki Khatir stall for some Kakori & Galauti kababs.

you are making me green with envy, jyotirmoy. At the risk of generalising, I find Delhi usually too materialistic (though other cities are fast getting there, or are there already), but Nizamuddin Dargah is in some ways an exception.

hope you had a really good time.

Dear Capt there is another side of Delhi too. But the dazzle of one side obscures the other side I agree. And I did have an excellent time. Sufi music & Qualis are performed on every Thursday so next time when you visit Delhi do visit Nizamuddin.

This Saturday 28th Oct at 6PM there is a free concert in the park, Nehru park.
Delhi culturally comes alive as the winter sets in. It seems like Delhi was waiting for it.
There is also Phool Wallon Ki Sair (festival of flower sellers) starting from 4th Nov in Mehrauli. It would have 3 day full of dance and music shows like Kathak, classical, light music, sufi music and qwalli.

I try not to miss Thursday there, whenever I am in Delhi.

Not been there for quite sometime though.

As a child, we used to live in Defence Colony, and I used to like to cycle it there. Hardly any traffic.
