Delhi do get into a festive mood over the new year's eve. However the parties are normally divided into 2 sections.
first one is the organised (many times Themed) at all the big 5 star hotels in Delhi where one gets his one table and group(s) of entertainers are on the stage taking you into the next year. These are all inclusive, pre-booked parties where mostly people go with families.
The other ones are private parties, where group of friends, relatives, collegues, etc meetup at one place (mostly it is at someone house or farm house) and dance, drink, talk and eat into the new year.

The last one is those who stay at home and carry on doing what they do everyday, its like any other day.
Around midnight places like Connaught Place gets crowded with many cars with teenagers and young people hanging out of their car windows, honking and shouting plus keeping their car music system's volume at al time high.
Many chose to go and celebrate at many night clubs but some of them require pre-booking as they get uncontrollably crowded and messy.
New Year eve can also be ugly with many accidents due to drunk driving.

Hmm... thank you vinayverma. I don't know what sounds best! I don't know anybody in Delhi so I guess private parties are out. Connaught Place sounds more my style but it also sounds like a place tourists should avoid at that time.
Hmmm. Any recommendations for clubs?

Btw, thanks iwanttogoback!
