Hi,
I am so happy that I am able to see a part of Garwal Himalaya. It was a family trip and my itinerary was like this:

28th Sep – Doon Exp from Howrah station at 8.35 pm.
29th Sep – Train
30th Sep – Hardware.
1st Oct – Uttarkashi.
2nd Oct – Gangotri > Sorry forgot the name of the place (6 KM before Uttarkashi)
3rd Oct – Rudraprayag.
4th Oct – Kedarnath via Triyugi Narayan and Gaurikund.
5th Oct – Ukhimath.
6th Oct – Badrinath via Chopta, Tunganath.
7th Oct – Srinagar.
8th Oct – Hardwar.
9th Oct – Train for Varanasi from Hardwar.
10th Oct – Varanasi.
11th Oct – Varanasi.
12th Oct – Train for Howrah from Varanasi.
13th Oct – Back to Kolkata.

There are some photographs I’ve just uploaded on the web and the link is:

http://www.ringo.com...lbumId=40581068
(hope the URL is working :P ).
I am expecting another roll from the photo lab very soon and that will also be uploaded. Till then scar me for ruining these beautiful places :P .

Cheers,
Somnath

 That's me, green with envy at your itinerary. Would have liked to see the pictures but don't want to set up an account with ringo. Let me know if you upload them on flickr. Enjoy your holiday!

Ohhhhh…… no. Just noticed that this URL will take you to the login page first. OK, there is another way –
1. plz visit http://www.ringo.com/
2. On the right bottom corner of the page there is a text box “Find a friend:” – pz write – “somnath k” and click on ‘Go’.

No need to register.

“Hardwar and around, 2006” contains the latest photographs.

I am really very sorry.

Wow wow wow, the pics are absolutely fabulous, Somnath :D . They trigger my tendency of daydreaming  . Hope you will write a bit more about your trip, accommodationwise I would be especially interested in Gangotri, Rudraprayag, Kedarnath, Ukhimath, Badrinath and Srinagar. The itinerary sounds just great!

Brilliant! Somnath, I did a similar route my first time in India, your photo's have jogged my memory, but they have also made my feet itch!
You even went to the end of the road at Mana, looks amazing, would love to cross that pass to Kailash.
Where is the red & white bridge? is it crossing the Tehri Dam? I don't remember seeing it but they hadn't flooded the Tehri valley when I was there. Jai Shiva Shankar Hari Om KK

Truly wonderful pics Somnath...........I spent the whole of lunchtime today looking thru them all and still haven't finished.

What a trip that must've been!!!!

WOW! I think I have been away too long. Unfortunately my december break is too short to do a lot of travelling. Just a quick recharge in Goa. But, I will on another one of my train journeys through India sooon.

Neeleem, Yash, KK, Priya, sugarnspice thank you. :)

Yash, I love to share my travel experience with all but it will take some more time. But just a pice of info – there are so many hotels / lodges in all these areas. It was peak season still we didn’t face any trouble to find a place (except Ukhimath). At ukhimath bharat Sebashram Sangha is a staying option but we stayed at another hotel (I’ll provide the name and contact info).

KK, spot on (as usual). That’s the bridge to cross Tehri dam. Mana (http://www.gourmetin...cmd=si&img=1058) is a nice place but my tour is incomplete I’ll definitely go back because I wanted to see the Basudhara falls which is almost 5 KM from Mana.

Priya, this time my dad and sister was there with me so didn’t enjoy that much liberty  but it was a great time.

SnS, goodluck for the forthcoming Goa trip.

Thank you.

Nice photographs. It reminds me my trip to those places a few years ago. I think your photos can be directly accessed here in a better way.

Hi Abhijit,
Thank you so much for the help. My photographs ends on page no 3 (Hardwar1), and just an update there are some other Somnath’s pix (in Germany or with mom).

Abhijit thank you once again.

Me, too! I looked at the thumbnails and thought - 'Good heavens, that looks like Neuschwanstein Castle in Germany, I didn't know Somnath had been there!'. Yep, it was Neuschwanstein, but it wasn't Somnath
