A friend will arrive at Delhi airport at 2-3 am. He is a gentle soul and doesn't want to disturb the sleep of the embassy people at this awful hour (he'll have to live in the embassy quarters for almost a year and doesn't think such an early introduction would make a good start he he ) so he asks if there are any cafes at the airport where he could have a cup of coffee and read a book or a newspaper until the sun rises and those worked out people from the embassy wake up
Thanks
Thanks

Waiting 4 to 5 hours at the tea stall will be extremely trying.

Yeah there are a few chairs!! I'm wondering if the restaurant facilities at the Radisson are open to the public as there's a 24 hour café there which does good food on a buffet vasis and it's only 5 minutes away by taxi!!
Anyone know, my feeling is you can dine here without staying at the hotel but I'm not 100% sure!!!
My wife says it's open to the public and she's always right
So there's an idea, go and stop there for a while the prices were pretty good for what was on offer!!

yes your wife is right
Radisson café, bar etc are open to public, myself I had randez-vous's there several times and noticed lots of people do have business/social meetings there, meeting at the lobby moving on to resto/bar.
(I cannot guarantee the café is 24hrs, but I've never been 'round it in the wee hours of the morning.)

I was there 2 years ago. At that time I tried to have a meal and hang around The Radisson for the sun to come up so I could get on with my business. But, the manager nicely encouraged me to either take a room for the rest of the night or go sit it out at another hotel. I finally paid for a room. As a single female, I was not going to start wandering around Delhi for a room.
So, perhaps it has changed, but I doubt it. I had heard about the hotel and the wandering travellers who were always showing up at the hotel and basically given a polite.....rent a room or go somewhere else for the night.

as in any restaurant/café, you have to order/have a meal or drink to be there... if you just sit with no obvious intentions to order from their menu no wonder they ask you to make up your mind.
it's not personal, but they should take care of the other clientele... how'd you feel if you went there for a drink and all seats were taken by sleeping passengers-in-transit?
