TQ:  Thanks!  I told everyone when I got here, "There's no way you'll get me on a motorcyle inside of six months, at least!!"  But then I rode on a couple and thought, "this is fun!"  We actually went out on the roads, today.  Granted, they were dirt roads WAY out of Bangalore proper, but they were real roads with real dogs and pedestrians. Other than some mud spatters I haven't figured out how to get out of my dupatta, no worse for wear. My poor friend who is teaching me, though! It's torture to sit back and watch someone else drive your vehicle while they grind the gears...

Radhika suggests that ear and nose piercing for babies and adults should be a safe procedure
and in Bangalore it is done at AMP Medical Center on CUNNINGHAM Road . It is done by Dr A.M. Patil who can be reached at 91-80-9845543015 or 9343826182 . It is without pain , no sepsis and no side effects whatsoever .

Thanks, Ashok. I actually ended up having it done in Delhi, at a jeweler, without a gun. Pretty sure that ended up on a blog somewhere (see blogs above!).  :indiaflag:  But a surprising number of people suggested a medical clinic, so Dr. Patil probably would have been a good option.

... The jeweler was less scary than the medical clinic down the road from my house, and I used a silver stud. It was sore and had a minor infection for a few days, but with bit of alcohol never had any problems. And love my nose ring! :)

*grin*  It's been done about a year. *blush*  I need to do a better job of following up on question threads, eh? But I"m sure I blogged it somewhere ... on one of the three blogs. *blush again*

I got it done on the left. I figured North Indians are pretty particular about it being on the left, and South Indians don't care even though they tend to do it on the right. I never had anyone mention it being on the left in the South.  I was surprised how many Indians asked things like, "Did it hurt?  Can you blow your nose?"  I figured it's so common here, no one would think twice of it.

I got it done in GK market , M block-- one of the places bombed in the last Delhi attack (the area, not the shop exactly). I wasn't even thinking and blurted out "That's where i got my nose pierced!" when I saw the news about Delhi. thankfully Mom wasn't listening. She never connected that this was where I was moving to ...

So, where do I get my nose pierced in Bangalore?  Would I be able to do this at the jewelry stores at the mall?  Or does anyone know any place more specific? (Yes, I know, the chances of someone knowing that specifically are slim to none).

I've already decided to get it pierced, and I'd really like to avoid doing it myself. Now the debate is whether right or left, as I am living in South India but will probably end up in North India eventually...  But, I told myself a long time ago, I would finally get my nose pierced when I got to India!  I've wanted to for a long time, and I think it would be really cool to say I got it done after arriving here.

So, any advice on figuring out where, let me know!

My daughter was 5 months old when we decided to get her ear pierced. The non medical ear piercing options are painful and unsafe with possibilities of hepatitis, viruses and even HIV and I can never recommend it.  My husband and I were looking for a safe, modern, gun shot piercing option which is completely safe, pain-free and with a traditional touch as well.

I finally ended up at Dr. Patil’s ear piercing clinic in Bangalore. It turned out to be a wise decision. I enjoyed professional services with a personal touch at Dr. Patil’s clinic, quite commendable!

I was looking for getting my ear piercing done by gunshot in Bangalore.  Finally I wanted to get my ears pierced only by a doctor in Bangalore.   For sure I would get it done with Dr. Patil.  www.earpiercingdoctor.com His contact number may still be the same 93438 26182.  I think he does all kinds of piercings I researched quite a bit since I wanted this to be a painless and hassle free procedure since body piercing ear or nose piercing involved risks so I finally ended up getting it done here –
