HI

Can I pre-book my rail tickets before I arrive in Trivandrum?

Can non-Indian citizens use the web to book and pay easily?

Thanks again

Y

You can check at the site www.irctc.co.in

You can pay by credit card and hence, should not worry too much about it.. More information about the booking and about the railways can be found in this very useful guide at http://www.goneindia.com/train.zip

Oh I dunno, I kinda like the idea of keeping you in supsenders :)  :(

During the registration process, you will be asked for a 6 digit Indian pin code (post code) Due to a fault in the web form design, you cannot proceed without filling this in, despite having told the blessed thing that you aren't from India :(  :P

So just look one up on the internet, or simply make one up and the system accepts that!!

Good luck!!

Missy.. are you getting the tickets delivered to the hotel or are you picking it up from the railways counter in New Delhi ? If you are delivering it to a hotel, then you would have to give the hotel's pin code. And if it is picking up from the railways counter give this number 110011.

I'm so gullible, I was hoping to have them sent to my UK address!!  :D

I guess I would have them delivered to my hotel in Trivandrum although I guess I could just go and pick them up.

I arrive on 7 December and i'm travelling up to Alleppey on 8th.  I was just hoping to get all that stuff sorted before I went to save on time.

Dear Missy can you spell out your itinerary? Travelling between some cities in Kerala you may not need to book in advance.

Cyber E tickets are limited to a few trains and has to be booked a within 3 days of travel, by when the reservations can be filled up. Hence, she would have to use the option I ticket by which it is as usual delivered to the address. Atleast that is the way I understood it, so if any one knows otherwise please correct me as I would love the direct printing option for all trains and all period.

So missy you can reserve them now and get them sent to your hotel in Trivandrum if that is your first stop. Also make sure you inform your hotel that they are coming and so that they dont loose em as junk mail. However, if you are travelling through delhi earlier, then you can pick em up from Delhi as well. As jyoti mentioned, please advice your travel plan.

Now e-ticketing facility has been extended to almost all super fast & express trains. Tickets can be booked up to 60 days in advance. It is better to go for e-ticketing where ever possible.
Identity proof is required so make sure you are carrying the document that you opted for as id proof when you book.
Good luck.
