I was flicking through the channels last night & came across this program called "The Boy With Divine Powers!"

It was about the boy Buddha who was meditating under a tree in Nepal. The program was an hour long & quite detailed, i've read about him before on IM & thought not another religioscam (new word i've just invented) but not at all, the people who made the program were there to try & disprove the claims that he had meditated for months without food, water or toilet.

The boy as had 2 fences built around him with a inner & outer compound, the first fence keeps the masses (who have now built a town where before it was just jungle) out at a distance of 50yards, but the film crew managed to negotiate their way into the first compound which meant they were only 25yards away, here they set up a camera targeted on the meditating boy constantly for 96hrs & not once was he seen eating or drinking.

He was paid a visit by a high lama from a tibetan monastery near Dehra dun who claimed the boy was one of his pupils and that he had vowed to sit there until he achieved enlightenment the monk sat in front of him for about an hour trying to work out what type of meditation technique he was using, during this hour it was noticed the boy was sweating & you could see the sweat running down his face & neck. The lama came to the conclusion that the boy was practising a form of Tumo which actually takes many years to perfect.

Tumo is the Tibetan Buddhist technique of keeping warm. ... Tumo is a meditation that channels mystical heat through the veins, arteries and nerve channels, it is done by visualising that you are surrounded by a flame. The film crew also went to visit a scientist in India who as been doing laboratory controlled tests on a Sadhu who claims not to have eaten for 60yrs, the sadhu is constantly under surveillance in the lab (by video camera) with no access to food.

The sadhu claims that he receives his energy from the sun, using a technique where you stare at the sun, it was suggested the Buddha boy may be using the same technique. Finally the crew made their way back to Nepal to the Bhudda boy only to discover that the day before 59 witnesses had seen a flame shoot out of the boys chest!!!!! Serious!!!! weeks later the boy disappeared & was not seen again.    KK

Fascinationg I agree...  But I little sceptical... (Sorry) - Were they sure the boy was alive???  Just one of the more simple reasons for not needing to eat...  Either that or a plastic model... ?  B))

This is a extremely interesting claim by the boy and his mysterious disapperance only adds to this saga.
Discover all that you are not -- body, feelings thoughts, time, space, this or that -- nothing, concrete or abstract, which you perceive can be you. The very act of perceiving shows that you are not what you perceive." -Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

Oh yes, he was definitely alive, the camera crew zoomed in to him so you could see him even in the dark, at one point they speeded the film footage up so that you could see him moving to reposition himself when he must have had cramp in the lower cheek area. He definitely wasn't made of plastic otherwise he would have melted when the 59 witnesses saw a flame shoot from his chest!  :D

Like I said earlier I was sceptical until I saw this prog which was quite convincing.   KK

Hi Charlotte, welcome to The Tree. Glad someone else saw it, did you think it was real or faked?    KK
