We're off to Chennai in 2 weeks for our first trip to India. We've a few internal Indian Airlines flights (Chennai-Kolkata-Bagdogra-Kolkata-Bangalore) and we were wondering if anyone has any experience on what the current carry-on baggage restrictions are at the moment. It's a royal pain for everyone of course but if what I heard is correct... that only travel documents and essential medications are allowed as carry-on, then I'm gonna have to find a bigger checked-bag to hold the stuff I would normally put in the carry on. And what's the situation with iPods and books and cameras?

Thanks people....

Dave

Dave

its just liquids at the moment so pack all shampoos etc in your hold luggage along with your gelagnite, nitrus oxide etc, you can still carry on your mobile phone, laptop, ipod or any other device that you need to set off your explosives in the hold.  :)

its all a little farcical to say the least and the airport staff appear to have no idea why they are even doing this!

Of course by the time you get here it could be a totally different story and you wont know until you reach the airport so just be prepared for any excuse to screw up your day!

Cheers
Malc

Smoked for 25 years but now not smoked since 13th Jan. Am I now a non smoker, a smoker who doesn't smoke or an ex smoker? Do I have to even have a title, can I not just be a 'me'? Has not smoking made me crazy?, probably!

Thanks all for the info. The IA site has the details as you suggested but it was a bit difficult to find without your pointer to the links. Thanks again.

Can anyone mention what is the current status.. I hope now it should be more of less standard across India as my friend did go through a fair deal of pain a few months back..
