Has everyone heard about the threat at Lonhdon Heathrow - Aparently 'someone' was trying to blow up 20 planes... So Heathrow is a car park at the moment...  It's mad, why do people have to be so agressive.  On a personal note, I was origianally going to be flying from LHR tomorrow (although had already delayed my flight for a week), so really glad - does anyone know how this will effect flights to India...

I think the way forward is to create a HUGE complex in a nice warm country for Nudists...  Then create an airline for Nudists.  The benefits are, you don't have to take anything with you, so no luggage, nowhere to hide bombs, get to the destination.  no need for clothes..  Sorted..  I would like commision from this idea if anyone takes it up!

Excellent idea about Nude-Air, Starkers-Air, Naked-Air........maybe even Buff-Air!!! - Warm climes will benefit greatly :)

Oh please!!! :)  I don't think I want to sit next to all that flesh on a long-haul anyway....

Yes, we are on critical alert.  Hand luggage is banned from all flights departing from all UK airports.  More information is available from the Foreign Office website..

Funnily enough, a friend of ours is developing a new airport security screening device for a company in California.

This is specifically to detect items being smuggled under the layers of fat that some people suffer from.  Apparently, smuggling in this way is quite common in the US and, understandably, there are certain places that customs and security officials would prefer not to inspect personally!

hiding things under reams of flab just doesn't sound nice...  When I came up with the idea I had a different picture in my mind (so to speak)

Well I figure these crazy people will get us sooner or later.  No sense worrying too much about it, better to bow out laughing in the face of it all me thinks!

Hope there are no such threats on the Bangalore-Cochin flight tomorrow though, would really like to watch that boat race before I meet my alleged maker!

Hats off to the London Police for their timely detection that prevented what could have been simultaneous in-flight explosions on a number of outbound flights. The explosives were of the liquid type and were being carried as cabin luggage.  As per initial reports, several doubtful characters have already been rounded up and, unlike in the cases of our lop sided system, it can be safely stated that some positive clues will be thrown up on investigation. It happened when there were serial blasts in London underground and also in buses on the roads. The ever efficient police from Scotland Yard fanned out in all directions and took into preventive custody such persons who might have been involved. There was no leniency shown and no extraneous factors to determine the course of action. The message was to apprehend the terrorists and that was that.

In contrast, today (10th August 2006) was supposed to be the judgment day of the serial bomb blasts that took place in Mumbai on the Black Friday 12th of March 1993 – even after 13 long years of wait, the result is not forthcoming. The date has now been shifted to 12th of September 2006 due to some flimsy reasons – one of them being the ensuing Ganesh utsav. In all probability, when the 12th September does arrive, there might be another postponement since it will be near to the other festivals.

The fact of the matter is that we are responsible for our own vulnerability – we hesitate to take harsh decisions, we want to always travel on several boats at a time, we have innumerable hidden strings that keep pulling us back. We are puppets in the hands of the unscrupulous elements, most of whom rub shoulders with us day in and day out and we fail to recognize them.

The ever efficient police from Scotland Yard...

Unfortunately, the days of Sherlock Holmes are over.  The police in the UK are generally under-educated (the exam that they take to join the force is easier than the "Eleven Plus" exam for children) and are riddled with institutionalised racism and incompetence.  We can’t trust these people to get it right, and I suspect that this marvellous piece of detective work is nothing more than a public relations exercise after a catalogue of police and government failures.

I will wait and see what happens, but I doubt that anyone will be prosecuted for the alleged crimes.

I hope that I am proved to be wrong.

I remember last year the wonderful performance of Scotland Yard, just after the London blasts, when an innocent boy was brutally killed just because he was found "nervous" in a tube station (with the local newspapers celebrating the murder...).  ;)

His family didn't have a "we are sorry" when the big mistake was clarified!

I want to see what will happen now, but I have the bad impression that things could be not exactly as they appear (or as thay should appear)...

It's since this morning that I am asking to myself WHY Heatrow has been closed, considering that NOTHING has happened there.

Alright, let's be serious, here.  People with flatulence will not be allowed to board, as you might blow up the plane or poison the already bad air in the plane.

That means,

no dal
no potatoes

no eating too

This also means no more juvenile attempts of armpit fart competitions in airports.  Understood?

I think the flight safety messages would be longer than the flight time... Before you take off, while flying and then before landing and after landing...

All said and done, if the claims of government is true then a big hats off to that agent who infiltrated the gang and gave the signal to sweep in at the right moment.
