Hi all,

I'm travelling to India (Pune specificially) on some work related business, and have 2 days from when my conference ends until my flight leaves Mumbai.  I'd love to find a way to jet up to see the Taj Mahal during that time, but am not sure if there will be enough travel time.   Any opinion or suggestion?

Call me the typical American, but I don't get a ton of opportunities to travel due to a very hectic work life, so I won't have much time to explore the area around Delhi, but don't know if/when I'll ever be back to India, so would like to take advantage of being in the area to see the Taj Mahal.  My boss won't allow me to extend my trip on either end, for various reasons.

Anyways, I'm looking for suggestions on how to leave Pune about 9am on a Sunday, get up to Delhi, and be back to Mumbai in time for a Monday midnight flight home (middle of the night between Monday & Tuesday).

Thanks,
Kate

the earliest flight on sunday seems to be

Air Sahara 132 at 1030

check out http://India.makemytrip.com/

I would try to take that flight, hire a car and driver for agra, see the taj on monday morning.

You could stay overnight at Agra, leave early monday morning by hired car for the taj, return in the afternoon and drive back directly to delhi airport for Mumbai. there will be a lot of flights delhi to Mumbai and reaching late night should not be a problem.

It is better to avoid travelling in hours of darkness, and use a referred car and driver. It will also be easier to hire the car round trip from delhi.

keep some time in hand in case flights are delayed. they can also get cancelled in extreme cases, so I would avoid budget airlines if I could.
