TQ - totally agree.

Gianni - I've never been there in August but I would expect it to be hot and humid with quite a bit of rain. I met a girl last year who was there in late September and she said it was hot (but not unbearably so), and they had the occasional bit of rain. I'd imagine August would be similar - maybe a bit more rainy.

She said the mosquitoes were particularly bad at that time but, like me in April, she had the place to herself - there were barely any other tourists there then.

Nice pics, Hyderabadi! :)

August was steamy hot in afternoons but no rain. Don't take that as a warranty..

Just chiming in with my $.02.

I just left Hampi, last Saturday...  The weather was great, not hot 70's-80's F., clouds, overcast mostly, it would drizzle just a bit, but nothing too serious.  I had been in Hospet/Hampi since July, 20th, and the entire time the weather was great compared with my first visit in March-04.  I remember, last week,  while riding to Hospet from Hampi in the autorickshaw, thinking, "gosh, I'm almost feeling cold...." and this is India!

Bijapuri once told me "the south is glorious during monsoon"...he was so right...

Although I got stuck in the Railway shutdown on Sunday, I will always return to India during monsoon.
