I have booked two flights with Air Deccan through the web, and I read in the FAQ section that it is necessary to reconfirm the flights at least three hours before the departure using the call centre.
What shall I do exactly? If the aim of the reconfirmation is for the passenger to be sure of the schedule, can I just check the schedule on the Air Deccan website? Or is the purpose of such procedure to confirm the reservation, which can otherwise be lost?
And, can  make the reconfirmation one or two days before the flight as well?
I will fly from Italy to India and the morning after from Delhi to Chennai with Air Deccan, so I can call Air Deccan before departing from Italy or when I will be just arrived in Delhi, I don't know what to do!!

My concern about this procedure is that it can be similar to what Raynair does in Europe: everything is perfectly explained and clear and automatic on their website, except this thing of the flight reconfirmation... obliging you to call a number and wait, wait, wait and wait 10, 20, 30 minutes on the phone, spending a lot of money!! And it is NEVER explained WHAT is really the meaning of "reconfirmation": is it mandatory? Does the passenger loose the reservation and the ticket if he doesn't reconfirm? Mistery... :D

I dont know what the correct answer to this is, but I have never reconfirmed over phone. And I have flown Air deccan at least 20 times.  Never had an issue so far. But  they can technically use this for their advantage for overcrowded flights I guess.

Anyways, I guess you are safe if you reach the check in counter sufficiently early.

I have also flown with Air Deccan about 30 times and never once had to reconfirm a flight.

Maybe it's a new rule with them perhaps but I wouldn't worry too much, just turn up 2 hours before the scheduled time of departure and be prepared to take off 5 hours later  :D

I actually won't fly with them any more, this past week I have flown 3 times with Spice and today with Kingfisher, all absolutely spot on other than very small delays!

Cheers
