Good digital camera of 5 megapixel or more with 1GB card is useful for taking video clips also. Why one buys Sony hanycam for the same price. Can anyone tell for movie clips what are the major advantages of movie camera over digital camera?

Sound and built in features for effects (not in all movie cam) and sometimes zoom. My personal choice would be a good digital cam + higher memory card.

My digital camera takes 640 X 480 fine mode video - the quality is excellent and looks the same as video shot on a video camera.
However, there is no zoom and on a 1GB card I can only take 12 minutes of film so it is a bit of a compromise.
My advice would be: if you mostly want to make videos, buy a video camera, and if you mostly want to take photographs, buy a digital camera.

In my opinion, there is a big difference between Digital Still and Video cameras. They both are meant for their own specific purposes. A good video camera with 3 MP still camera feature would, certainly, serve both the purposes up to some extent, whereas a Digital Camera not. The video quality of Digital Camera is very poor and when it comes zoom, its really bad. Also, if you opt for finer quality video in Digital Camera, even 1 GB card is not enough.

Thanks for all the guidance. The problem is that I have got one Sony Handycam 42E with 1.1 Megapixel and 13X zoom. I have one Cannon 50T film camera also(SLR). What type of digital camera should I buy? I really love the stills of digital camera. I can't sacrifice the film camera too!!
