What I can say anything new about Haridwar ,
May be Nth No of bloggers told you the importance of this place …What new elements can I add……..
We three friend decided to visit Uttranchal in Sep when the
tourist load is less in that area which is considered
as abode of Gods by All Devoted Hindus….
I am spiritual in my own way and belief….
But my friends who were my Humsafar in this tour
are and still not are believer to my belief and my
philosophy of practical side of spiritualism….
I honor their feelings with lots
(Pinch is too trivial to storm my opinion) of salt….
I accept them …….
Haridwar is one of the 4 places where drop of Elixir
( Amrit In Hindi, Bengali and Sanskrit and Amrut In Marathi and Gujarati) accidentally dropped when it was in transitions…..
during Amrit Manthan
Other three places are Ujjayani In MP, Allahabad In UP and Nasik In Maharashtra….
My two friends, who were aware of my eccentric belief (They call me Mad in My Back), were gracious enough, because 1.I am computer literate 2. I am very good organizer 3. The main thing- they have to spend very reasonable amount in tour…. The third is the main factor….and 4. I am reasonably good camera operator…. to be my co passenger to my tour of those holy places.
Haridwar is literary Means Gateway To God…
It is starting point for all yatras for all those places which are at higher reaches of Himalayas
….One of them is most revered, Char Dham
Char Dham consisting of Gangotri, Yamuneri, Badrinath and Kedarnath….
It also strating point for all those nature lovers who want to visit
Valley of flowers and Hemkund Sahib…
It is also a place to wash all those, accumulated and accrued SINS gathered during ones life time…..
Since Satya Yug a computer in Swarga is maintaining our data base who is doing what?
Sometime I wonder who invented computer?
And it is also a place to pay homage to the departed souls of the family, in form of Pinda Daan ….
How to reach there 1. Train connected with Delhi Single Line Track
2. buses which ply from Delhi takes about 5/6 hrs depending on chaotic traffic conditions of Delhi
3. taxis from Delhi 4. Air -Jolly Grant airport which is near Deharadu8n and about 50klm from Haridwar
Auto and Cycle Rickshaw are the mode of Local transport…
Local tour operators divided Haridwar in three segments.. North, South and Centarl…
You have to choose how to divide your time …
North and South tour including Patajanli Yoga Kendra of Baba Ramdev
takes about 5/6 hrs. Mansa Devi –Chandi Devi darshan take about 3 hrs. .
Those two places can be accessed by Ropeways and a package tour is available.
Mata Chandi Devi is 4 km away from Mata Mansa Devi…
We hired a Tata Sumo for combined north and south tour
with a few cuts + Baba Ramdev Yoga center.
We Started early in the morning to beat the heat…
Our Sumo Driver heard patiently what we would like to see, and
then suggested a tour plan of his own. We believed him and I must admit that he did not fail us.
Now the tour
He started north tour first.
We visited following places
North Tour
Jagat Guru Ashram- A Mandir 2 km from Haridwar
Geeta Mandir - A Mandir devoted to Hindu sacred book Geeta
Harihar Ashram – 3 km from Haridwar, Acharya Gaddhi of Shri Panchdasnam Juna akhara, now Swami Avdheshanand Giri ji heads it. The main attraction of this is 150 kg Shivling. The other attraction to me is the huge Rudrakhsa Tree right at the entrance and it is being worshiped. I have never seen Rudrakhsa tree in my life, It was novelty to me…
Sati Kunda- Sati first wife of Lord Shiva used to bath here, now it is a pond where lots of lotus plants are there and not maintained…
Dakhsa Mahadev Mandir – 4 Km from Haridwar in Kankhal ..You all know about the death of Sati and how Bhole Baba demolished Dakhsa Yagna…
A Shivji Mandir is at that place and most revered place in Haridwar.
Mata Anandmayi Ashram - Near Dakhsa Mahadev Mandir, Kankhal. She was Guruma to Ms Indira Gandhi, her Samadhi is here and the ashram too.. must spend sometime here just to sit and think about God..
Patanjali Yog Peeth- Baba Ramdev established this institute
for total cure by Ayurved and Yoga.
Well planed hospital premises with OPD and IPD
facilities supported by good staff and
well equipped pathological lab…
Our sumo driver enlightened me about the Yoga center…
He may be wrong…
He informed me that so many facilities are free there, but
the cost of the medicines is beyond the reach of local people.
I am not passing my observation …
Those who had taken treatment from this center can tell better…
Our Next touring point was Bilkeshwar Mandir…It was previously called Billwa Patreshwar, God Of Bel Patta now shortened and
Maya Devi Temple, Abhadoot Mandal Mandir..
Nothing special about those places…
Our South Haridwar tour started with Vaishno Devi Mandir –
5 storied temple where you can have a fine rehearsal for the main at Katra
Bharat Mata Mandir –7 storied temple devoted to out Matriboomi along with Hindu deities, saints warriors and freedom fighters…
Byasdev Mandir- only Temple in Haridwar managed by South Indian priests..
The Kalas of the temple has a distinctive south style…dedicated to Byasdev
who penned our epic Mahabharata…
Alas we could not go inside as doors remains close from 1300-1600 hrs..
Shantikunja – A place for meditation
Bhim Goda – It is said that Bhim drew water by thrusting his knee against stone, now a dirty water tank…
Mansa Devi and Chandi Devi Temples are on hills .. You can walk too, but easiest way is Rope Way.
What I personally liked most is bathing in Har Ki Pouri and
Sandhyaaarti in Haridwar and dancing floating Diyas offered as homage to all those departed.
There are other places of attractions in Haridwar, as
Sapta Rishi Ashram, Barfani Temple , Pavan Dham etc…
