Great news - we're both Persons of Indian Origin!
Gone are the days when we'd have to plan our trips in advance and apply for visas.
Now we can come and go when we like, grab a bargain flight and, most importantly, buy freehold property!
It's 16th February, 2008 and twelve weeks and five days since the HCI in London received Mrs SW's PIO Card application on 19th November 2007.
The application form says it will take between 1 and 8 weeks, but my own application took 18 weeks and Mrs. SW's nearly 13 weeks.
Hers was easier to process though. As the spouse of a PIO is was just a simple matter of my passport and my PIO Card along with our Marriage Certificate to prove her entitlement.
We can't wait to return to India, and it looks like we may be visiting in April.
Thanks to the Government of India, our journeys back to the roots, will henceforth be simpler, easier, flexible and trouble free!
