Nice details and pics chaishai, esp the last picture captioned "Just a little laugh!".

@chaishai
The use of fenugreek sounds eek!
But I guess the quantity -

Quote

1/8 tsp fenugreek seed, lightly roasted and finely ground
couldnt have done much to the overall taste?

tch tch! where is your spirit of enquiry?! it makes all the difference. fenugreek and jaggery is a match made in heaven.( and one that i've been blathering on about for years -i've even used it in cakes)
too much is never a good thing, but find the balance and you're in for a treat. there are several sweets made in Coorg and elsewhere that feature fenugreek seed in them.here's another example-

the ginnu mix is very nice. i had to fiddle around a bit to get my recipe tasting the way i like it. i used half and half instead of milk and reduced the amount of jaggery because of the added sugar.

heh! definitely. and while you're about it, do try and turn up some more info on this curious coagulant in the mix. i'd love to know how and why it came to be used here.

btw, the spouse has declared the instant ginnu and banana cake a match made in heaven!Posted Image
