Bengal Town it is! I suspect there are more bengali restaurants here than in Bombay or Delhi as a population ratio. HAL market has vendors who stock bengali favourites and a Moira(Mithaiwallah) couple churn out lesser known mithais.

Srikanth, what are your picks from the plethora of bengali restaurants?

Pre Wedding Ritual in a traditional Bengali Wedding

Gaye Halud Tattva: halud tattva takes place before the ceremony of turmeric. A groom’s relative arrives at the bride's home with Gae halud tattva (gifts) for the bride. The gifts consist of at least six saris and cosmetics to go with them. Also among the gifts are fish, assorted sweets, curd, paan, dhaan and durba. Incense is lit to welcome them and conch shells are blown. The bearers are given sweets and gifts.
Adhibas Tattva: Adhibas Tattva is the ceremony in which gifts comes from the bride's home. Gifts includes with fish, sweets, curd, paan, dhaan, and durba

Large Sized Bengali sweets and Sandesh shaped in various forms like Butterfly, Bride n Groom, Fish etc are sent.

The following are the Sweets n Savouries that are specially made-

Gatroharidda
Phulshojja
Bor Kone
Maach
Big Sized Sandesh,Chitrakoot etc

Big sized Savouries like Padma Nimki and Khasta Kachori

During Sarswati Pujo a friend's mom used to make - "KHOI CHUR-er MOA". has anybody had something like this ever? It was not your regular Khoi Moa. It was different and Yummier! I'd like to have a recipe of it.

khoi - Flattened Baked Rice [ Guess it works if you don't get what is Khoi? Moa - Bengali version of Laddu.

So far I remember - She never used whole grains of Khoi, it was always made into fine powders. Fennel and Camphor was added to it. It looked white outside but was dark greenish brown inside.

@Sen

Picked up a Khoi Moa from @Srikanth Seshagiri's mithai shop - Bancharams. Love it for it's indescribable texture and uncloying sweetness.

This is not your usual ladoo.

Hello Sir,

Amazing fare you have there. Are you taking in any overseas students ?

Seriously, I would love to learn some traditional/classic sweets if you have time.
