These gadgets will probably be my downfall.
And with the prices of electronics being (relatively) cheap in the US....

Hi, I'm WonderWomanUSA, a confirmed foodie. Cooking for one's no fun, so I don't cook as often as I used to but I've been known to read cookbooks as if they were novels. (No, I don't write book reports!
)

Hi everyone!
I love food - otherwise why would I be here? I have literally thousands of recipes, torn out of magazines if they've caught my fancy, recipe books of all descriptions, meat, fish, desserts. Nothing to read - a recipe will do me just fine.
Lots of exciting things to read on this site, and I hope I'll be able to contribute too, in my own small way.

Hi Roshan!
Welcome to Gourmet India!
We have an entire Sub Forum for discussing various drinks: http://www.gourmetin...hp?showforum=21
Look forward to your posts. I was a whisky and vodka drinker once, but now I mostly drink red wine, port or beer.
A small request, please try not to post in 'SMS' type of language. Thanks!

Hello Suresh and everyone at GI; I have been marvelling at the photos on GI for quite a while and also the depth of knowledge folks here have about Indian food and other cuisines too. I have just been reading, as I am not a good contributor (I love eating tho
). The photos here are simply amazing; the way you arrange the food, decorate the plate, etc. gives it a totally different(professional) perspective/look. Good tips for learners.

Hello Termz and welcome to our little corner.
Our photography is getting better everyday and there's still a long way to go and learn.
Do tell us more about yourself and your favourite cuisines.

Thanks Suresh. I am in the software field (Progrmr) and have been in the US since a little over 5 yrs. I am married, however I still cook because I like my cooking more.
I like Indian food the most, even though I have tried the american way of eating for a couple years - meat everyday w mashed/baked/scalloped potatoes n other sides(it made me fat), also tasted some italian food and mexican.
I still make tacos sometimes and eat and also some italian dishes like baked rigatoni with meat sauce and cheese on top. Once I bought many chinese sauces from the store to make my own stir frys and rice and dishes, but never made the effort to make the chinese dishes. Still got the sauces in the cabinet. I always bought chinese food tho from the takeaway. But taste wise, my favourite is Indian food. After having tried american cuisine for 2 years and spoiling my health in a way, I can say that Indian food is healthier as well as tastier. Nowadays, I have been concentrating on making/reading low-sodium Indian and other cuisines recipes.

Hi Termz - welcome here.. regarding Chinese food, please go to the Indo Chinese section here and see if you can 'stir' up some dishes, they are quiet simple and have the indo touch to them.. I agree Indian food is the best for us, we can maybe live on other kinds of food for a while but not for long

Hi, I'm Sara.
I really love Indian food (it's almost an obsession), and even though I've never really enjoyed cooking, I'm willing to try my hand at Indian cooking. It might turn me around and I'll become queen of the kitchen! Who knows?
I'll probably have lots of questions as I struggle my way through recipes, and I hope you all can help and that I can learn from you as well.
Take care,
Sara

Hey Sara, hang around long enough, and 'who knows'?
I did see your request for a recipe involving cashews, and I'm sure there will be some one who will post a recipe. http://www.gourmetin...tyle_emoticons/default/smile.gif
Here's a quick dry coconut poppy seed (khus khus) mutton recipe for you meanwhile:
