    Mamallapuram Beach

Hey guys, I am still planning my trip ton India. I know I have two weeks in the South of India in June, which I am aware is monsoon. Has anyone been over to Tamil nadu around this time of year. I was thinking of seeing Periyar, cochin, backweater trip etc in kerala for around 8-9 days and then head over to Mamallpauram for nice beach time for a few days. Is Mamallapuram a nice beach? I have heard mixed reports and can find few pics on the internet. I've heard sewage problems and people using the beach as a public toilet, however, maybe I just have to be prepared for this on first trip to India. So basically just wondering if a few days in June chilling, swimmming aroun Mamallapuram beach is a good aidea. Can anyone recommend nice double room near beach for around 1200 rupees a night. Cheers guys
  2. Hey guys, Just looking for people's advice on a trip to leh. I am arriving into leh by flight 28th June and departing 8th July by flight. It's my first trip to leh and I'm aware its peak season. Just wondering what people think is best, booking accommodation and activites in advance or when I get there. Will it be fairly staright forward to organise white water rafting, trip to Nubra Vally, Shey etc when I arrive or is it best to book over internet now? Only worry is apart from what is on here in past posts and in LP guide, I don't really know how much things should be costing. eg. trips to Nubra Valley Looking to stay two nights in Leh to acclimatize and chill out before heading further afield. Can anyone recommened a decnet guest house, fairly central, looking at paying about 1000-1200 rupees a night for 2 people, double room with en suite. or will there be plenty of accommodation end of June available to just arrange when I arrive? Any help appreciated, Cheers

    Jet Airlines Young Persons Discount

The student discount is, I think, just for Indian students. You should be eligable for youth fare though. maybe thats what they gave you in the end? [/quote] The youht fare is the one I was trying to get. they are two separate special offers. However, they would not even allow me the youth fare as I was not studying in India. even when I quoted there own terms and conditions off the website, they still refused.

    Jet Airlines Young Persons Discount

1000 Great West Road Brentford Middlesex London TW8 9HH 08000265626 That is the phone number to make reservations for Jet Airways LOndon branch. I tried to get the student discount as I am 21 and live In UK. However, I phoned three times and quoted what is on their website and they kicked up a ig fuss about it only applying to foreigners who are going to study in India. I said this was a differnet promotion to what was on their website and there was just a discount for all students. they refused to give it to me. I emailed a complaint and was told after all I was eligible. You may have to kick up a bit of fuss or you may just get it straight away. Adam You cannot get that discount online, only full prices so you have to ring that phone number to get the 25% off!!

    Kovalam Beach

Heading to kerala in June, I know its probably the worst weather time to go...monsoon. Looking to book a hotel for my first three nights there, going to head to kovalam beach area. Never visited Kerala before and I am looking for a nice double room for about 1400 rupees, bearing in mind it is very off season. Would like it to have a swimming pool. Any recommendations for hotels to book or agents to book with? Then I have got 10 days to see a bit of kerala, nothing booked so any recommendations would be appreciated. Want to do an overnight boat trip in backwaters and see Periyar wildlife sanctuary and possibly Varkala beach. Thanks guys, Adam

  9. Hi, I am travelling to Kerala in June. I am aware that the likelihood of jap B outbreaks increase during this period. I know I am asking people to comment on health issues but I have talked to my doctor and he says it is up to me. It costs £90 and I have read a fair bit about it but I really don't understand if I need to get the vaccination. I am in Kerala for two weeks. What do people think? personal preferences? Thanks, Adam

    Kerala in June

Hi, I am travelling to India in June, aware it is not the best time but can't be helped. I will make the most of it. I am arriving into Trivandrum by air from Delhi 13 June and have two weeks in Kerala! Looking for some help setting up an itinerary. never been to Kerala before. Hoping to see some beaches, although aware it may not be sunbathing weather. Would like to see a wildlife park, backwaters and Cochin but from my reading so far, this is about all I know of Kerala. Any suggestions would be very helpful. Also if anyone recommends a certain place to see, if you have any budget hotel recommnedations, that would be appreciated. By budget I am talking $30 US per night and hopefully not more than that. So far, my friend has recommended Kovalam beach and I am hoping someone may suggest some accommodation for there. Thanks guys Adam
